New Year’s Resolutions? Volunteer at Free Arts!

Become a volunteer mentor and help build courageous connections as one of your New Year’s resolutions.

Anyone who has worked with a nonprofit organization knows that the roots of a strong foundation are volunteers. Here at Free Arts, you can volunteer to be part of our Art + Mentors = Resilience. We want to establish courageous connections with over 7,000 children who have experienced abuse, neglect, and homelessness in the Phoenix Metro Area, and we need volunteer mentors to help reach this goal.

Volunteer opportunities changed over the past two years because of the COVID-19 pandemic. As we navigate through creating new policies and developing more innovative volunteer projects such as Bravery Boxes and To-Go Projects we want to have more opportunities to engage volunteer mentors in 2022!

El arte no tiene fronteras

Here at Free Arts, we recognize that “el arte no tiene fronteras,” art has no borders. It is important to have caring adult volunteer mentors with a variety of lived experiences available to connect with the diverse population of children we serve. New volunteer opportunities in 2022 mean more chances to broaden our community of caring adult mentors who are LGBTQ+, BIPOC, bilingual speakers, and men, especially at a time when children need them most.

Upcoming opportunities we have are:

Guided Tours at Transformation Celebrations

Thanks to The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation, we have a newly renovated building for our staff, volunteer mentors, children, and teens. Due to the pandemic, we had to postpone officially welcoming our partners, donors, families, and children back to the building. Now we have upcoming building tours planned in January, March, and May for volunteer mentors and corporate volunteers to attend and guests and support as event staff to help show what Free Arts is all about!

To-Go Prep

We are partnered with several partner agencies for multiple rounds of To-Go Projects. Each round will entail distributing different intentional art projects to children children partner facilities to help transform their trauma into resilience. Volunteering for To-Go Projects prep gives you a chance to help children and teens explore self-expression in a safe and socially distant way.

Art Room Assistance

We regularly receive art supplies from generous donors to help provide children with the tools they need in our programs. As donations keep coming in, we need volunteer mentors to help organize our art room of program supplies.

Volunteer mentors are an integral part of the Art + Mentors = Resilience equation. With great appreciation, Free Arts wants you to be part of the equation this year and beyond. For more information on how to sign up to volunteer with us, email volunteers@freeartsaz.org
